70 years of memories
12/02/2009As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, Pembrokeshire YFC is inviting all past and present members, leaders, club and county officials, and friends of the movement to share their memories of YFC in the county.
A Memory Day is being held in March when people are invited to bring along any photographs, press cuttings, or other memorabilia and share their thoughts and experiences of Pembrokeshire YFC.
Anyone with a connection to Pembrokeshire YFC is welcome to bring photographs and memorabilia from the early years of the federation right up to the present day.
There will also be an exhibition of photographs that have been found in the county archives, and it is hoped people will be able to shed some light on the stories behind the pictures.
County President Stephen James said: "We'd love to see people who have been connected with Pembrokeshire YFC throughout the 70 years at the Memory Day, to share their experiences and stories with us. Thousands of people have passed through young farmers' clubs in Pembrokeshire over the years and I'm sure they all have noteable memories of their time in YFC that are worth sharing and preserving for our future generations of members."
The Memory Day will be held on Sunday, March 15th at the County Show Pavilion from 1pm to 6pm when people can bring along any old photographs, press cuttings and memorabilia of YFC and share their memories of Pembrokeshire YFC.
If the Memory Day is successful, it could lead to similar events later this year and possibly the creation of a book and website chronicling the history of Pembrokeshire YFC.
