Service with a smile
28/01/2009A special service to mark the 70th anniversary of Pembrokeshire YFC has kicked off a year of celebrations.
The evensong service on Sunday, January 25th saw St David's Cathedral packed with present and past members, county officials, leaders and friends of the movement.
Readings and prayers were given by county officials, with the county choir that competed at the Wales YFC eisteddfod singing the anthem, Y Tangnefeddwyr (The Peacemakers) by Eric Jones.
The bishop of St Davids, the Rt Rev J. Wyn Evans, spoke in his address about his time as a leader of Clynderwen YFC in the 1970s, how YFC has shaped the lives of many members who have gone on to achieve great things, and how current members should look to the pioneers of the movement in Pembrokeshire to ensure there is a future for young farmers and the rural community.
Pembrokeshire YFC is planning a series of events throughout the year to mark its anniversary, including a reunion of past county YFC queens, a county dinner and a fun day.
