Challenge goes with a banger!

Challenge goes with a banger! There was some monster munching going on at the Pembrokeshire County Show last week at Pembrokeshire YFC's sausage eating challenge.

Finding a fun and quirky way to promote local produce, Pembrokeshire YFC took on teams from the National Farmers' Union, Farmers' Union of Wales and Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society.
There were 60 sausages kindly provided by Bethesday Meats, for the teams of three to wolf down as quickly as possible, with empty plates and mouths needed to convince the judges they were worthy of the goodie bags full of local produce, donated by companies at the show.
County Chairman Rhiannon Llewellin said: "As a rural organisation, we wanted to promote the great food produced here in Pembrokeshire at the biggest event in the county's calendar. The challenge was great fun and we all had support from the big crowd who cheered us on, even after all the farmers beat the YFC team hands down!"
After chomping their way through five sausages each in a matter of minutes, it was the FUW team of Rob Voyle, Dai Miles and Meurig Harries who were declared the winners by able compere Will Prichard.
Rob Voyle said: "We just drew on our experience as busy farmers, who are all used to always rushing breakfast."
In second place were the team from the NFU, followed by the agricultural society, and lastly, the YFC.
