Stars shine at show
01/09/2008There was a space race to the YFC marquee at this year's Pembrokeshire county show last week as visitors flooded in and young farmers gathered to take part in many competitions on offer, which were all based on the theme of outer space.
In the craft competition members were given a washing up bottle and had one hour to make a rocket out of recyclable materials.
The floral art competition was to depict a planet and members cooked up a range of dishes to serve to an alien on a visit to Pembrokeshire.
The traditional Hereford Stockjudging competition was held in the cattle ring on Wednesday, but the novelty games had to be abandoned because of the poor weather.
The tent was full of YFC scrapbooks, pictures from competitions and events during the year, international travel and rural affairs displays, and trophies which had been won at Wales and National levels.
After three days of tough competition, the club with most points overall was Llysyfran YFC, followed by Templeton and Tiers Cross.
