Good showing from members

Good showing from membersThere was a really good show of talent from members of Pembrokeshire YFC at this year's Royal Show.

Artistic flair, cookery skills and balancing a football on the front of a quad bike then driving it around a course, were all some of the skills shown by members at national finals held during the four-day show in Stoneleigh, Warwickshire at the start of July.

Heading the results for Pembrokeshire was Hannah Morgan, of Tiers Cross YFC, whose excellent graffiti artwork on the theme 'year of food and farming' was placed second, just two points behind the winner.

The ATV challenge team of Rob John and Andrew Phillips, of South Pembs YFC, negotiated their way around a tricky course, towing a trailer and trying not to drop a football to earn themselves third place.

In the three floral art competitions, Hannah Phillips from Templeton YFC was placed sixth in the intermediate section, with Hayley Adams, of Llawhaden YFC, earning a competent ranking in the junior age group. In the senior section, Sarah Edwards, also of Llawhaden YFC, was unfortunately disqualified after the judge ruled her exhibit used artifical plant material.

Keyston YFC's cookery team was placed 10th, with neighbouring county Carmarthenshire taking top honours, and in the painted plate competition, Laura Elliott, of Llawhaden, and Catherine Bevan from Templeton, were both placed 11th in their sections.

Completing the entries from Pembrokeshire was Catrin Rowlands, of Llysyfran YFC, who was placed a respectable 25th out of almost 50 competitors.
