New chairman at the helmAs Pembrokeshire YFC continues to celebrate 70 years of history, a new name has been added to the long list of county chairmen.

William Lawrence, of Brawdy YFC, is the latest person to take on the prestigious role of county chairman, filling the shoes of Llysyfran YFC’s Emma James, who finished her year in the chair at the executive AGM last Wednesday.
The meeting also saw the election of Aled Johnson, of Eglwyswrw YFC as the new county vice-chairman.
William, a farmer from Pointz Castle, Brawdy, and teacher Aled were straight into action at a celebration dinner to mark the 70th anniversary of the county federation on Friday.
More than 200 guests filled the Nantyffin Motel, Llandissilio, and enjoyed listening to former county chairman and guest speaker Dennis Reed give a highly entertaining address.
Further events to mark the 70th anniversary of Pembrokeshire YFC later this year include a trio of gala concerts which will feature music, dance and sketches from throughout the last 70 years. The concerts will be held at Sir Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest on Thursday, November 12th; Greenhill School, Tenby on Friday, November 13th and Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Fishguard, on Saturday November 14th.
